Michiel views cases primarily from a human perspective and listened carefully to his clients’ wishes. He balances the scale where necessary, and his clients therefore appreciate him as an adviser and sparring partner. Quietly he closes the best deals for his clients.
From 1996 to 2004 Michiel worked at BakerMcKenzie. In early 2004 he switched to Vestius.
The main focus of Michiel is employment (dismissal, non-competition clauses, company directors, participation, etc.) but also wider collaborations (such as partnerships and professional services). Most is Michiel consulted with disturbed relations within those partnerships and shareholders disputes, which he advise to take over one of the parties of measures aimed at sustainable solution thereof. If that does not work he represents his clients in subsequent civil proceedings. Michiel also regularly advises with regard to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR or ‘AVG’) compliance and assists companies with proper integration of GDPR.
Michiel is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association (VAA) and the European Employment Law Association (EELA). He is also a member of the editorial board op PO-online (Online Institute for Permanent Education of E-WISE).
Michiel regularly publishes in professional journals. Besides, he is a supervisory board member of 1012Inc N.V., a real estate company that focuses on strengthening the residential function, quality of life and accessibility of, in particular, postcode area 1012 in Amsterdam.
